LiveWorld Redesigns Jump the Shark Web Site for TV Guide Online
San Jose, Calif., March 1, 2007 – LiveWorld, Inc. (OTC Pink Sheets: LVWD.PK), a leading online social networking and community services marketing agency, announced today that they had been selected by TV Guide to design and operate the second generation of its popular Web site, www.jumptheshark.com.
The re-designed site, which launched on February 28, utilizes a unique voting system that allows users to compose their theories on "jumped" shows so that others may vote on their validity. The site displays the results graphically. Users are also able to categorize their "shark-jumping" reasons, in order to find similarities across all TV shows. Each individual show links to TVGuide.com's comprehensive database of entertainment information for over 10,000 TV shows. Users of the Jump the Shark site will also be able to customize a listings grid powered by TVGuide.com.
"In this era of user driven media, a community centric perspective is essential, "said Jay Bryant, director of Online Products, TV Guide.com. "We chose to work with Live World because they are uniquely experienced in this arena and truly understand the community dynamic of a new generation."
"We are delighted to be working with TV Guide on Jump the Shark. It's a terrific site with a vibrant group of enthusiastic users that will only benefit from further integration with the TV Guide Community," said Peter Friedman, Chairman & CEO, LiveWorld.
"Welcome to Jump The Shark's extreme makeover," site founder Jon Hein wrote on the home page of JumptheShark.com. "There's no Ty or a big bus, but JTS now offers real-time voting and posting, automated category tabulation, dynamic linking of shows across the site, and a facelift that brings the site out of the nineties." Hein published the site in his house for 10 years before TV Guide acquired it last year. The independent spirit of the site will be maintained.
