Speaker: The Talk City Network, in association with iXL Live(tm), welcomes you to a conversation with our special guest Eddie McClintock. Welcome to Talk City, Eddie! Your new show 'Holding the Baby' takes a fresh look at parenthood. What was it that appealed to you about the show?

EddieMcClintock: Originally just the opportunity to go in and audition for it, which was exciting. And as I read the script, it just seemed like a nice script; something that people would be able to relate to and that might give me the opportunity to work for awhile - make a little bit of money and some fans. The premise is that my brother's wife runs off to Tibet with her yoga instructor, and she leaves young Daniel, their son, with Gordon and me. Neither of us have any idea how to raise a child. He's a bit of a workaholic, and I am definitely NOT a workaholic - a struggling actor, so I tend to be around the house a lot, and I'm a little irresponsible. So that really makes an awkward situation for the two of us. Luckily the young gal, Kelly, comes to Gordon's office applying for a job as receptionist, and ends up becoming the nanny, and ends up saving our butts on a day in, day out basis.

Jewellski: When does your show air?

EddieMcClintock: The show airs Sunday nights at 7:30 on Fox, right before The Simpsons, and right after Fox Football. And, depending on how the football game goes, the World's Funniest Videos actually comes right before the show. The pilot has already aired, and we've shown two episodes so far.

Juno: Is this the first television series for you?

EddieMcClintock: It's the first television series that I've starred in. I was on a show called Ned & Stacy that was also on Fox a couple of years ago. I did four of the last ten episodes, before it went off the air.

Meriwidow: Eddie, I've seen the commercials for the show and it looks great. Who are your co-stars and what can we look forward to seeing this season?

EddieMcClintock: Well, Meri, thank you for the compliment about the show! We think that it's a good show, and all the writers are very smart. What we can look forward to in the show - it deals with the issues of young people who have children, and who are trying to have a career and raise a baby! It's a struggle, and I think that people can relate to the struggle at both ends - keeping the career and raising a child. And doing the best that they can. John Patrick Walker plays Gordon Stiles, my brother. He is a fantastic guy who has become a good friend of mine. I have a lot of respect for him. He has grown up in the theatre and I really try and learn a lot from him. Jennifer Westfeld plays Kelly. She graduated from Yale, and is brilliant! She's also a bit of an old hand - she worked on Two Guys, A Girl and a Pizza Place, where she did 10 episodes. A very intelligent actress and a good friend. Sherry Shepherd plays Miss Boggs, Gordon's fiery secretary. Ron Leibman, a Tony Award winning actor who has done tons of television, plays Gordon's boss. He's a good guy. It's a pleasure sitting back and seeing all these people act. I'm relatively new, and I try to absorb anything I can that will make me a better actor.
