Checkout.com: Welcome to a chat with singer/songwriter James Michael, who releases his debut album "Inhale" tomorrow on Checkout.com Welcome, James Michael!

James Michael: Hey, it's great to be here!

Desy: Did you have any musicians as role models when you were starting out? If so who and why did you admire them?

James Michael: When I was first starting to get into music, Joe Jackson was a huge influence on me. I was a young kid, living in London, England, and his song "Is She Really Going Out With Him" was in high rotation on British radio. And I just remember hearing that song several times a day and thinking, "This guy sounds so cool! I want to be like him when I grow up." Of course, that was before I saw a picture of him.

Cleveland: If you could perform with any artist of your choice who would it be?

James Michael: Probably Nikki Six of Motley Crue. I'm hoping someday to drag him up on stage and play bass with me.

Miss Q: How do your friends and family feel about your success?

James Michael: I don't think that my friends and family are aware of my success yet! I'll have to call them soon and let them know. Everyone is real supportive and excited about the record coming up.

Pammy: Have you been out on tour yet ? If so what is your favorite part of touring and least favorite?

James Michael: I have been out on tour. I toured with other bands that I've been in, and done some touring to promote this record. My favorite part of touring is just the sense of freedom and lack of responsibility, other than just having to show up on stage and rock. My least favorite part of touring is coming home, and the overwhelming sense of responsibility.

Jodi: Who's easier to work with, Motley Crue or Meat Loaf?

James Michael: Oh boy! Well, I would have to say that I really haven't worked with Meat Loaf. As for Meat Loaf, he's a great guy. But Nikki Six and I have had an amazing time writing songs together. As a matter of fact, the best times that I've had writing songs have been with Nikki.

Spotted Cat: Where are you from originally and do you miss being away from home when you have to tour or record?

James Michael: I'm originally from a town called Holland, Michigan. And I don't really consider that home anymore. I would consider home Los Angeles. I don't really miss it when I'm touring because there are so many awesome things to see and experience out on the road, and as far as recording goes, the recording studio feels like home to me.
