Kazzidy: What was it like kissing Jodi Lyn O'Keefe? Shane West: It was very exciting! Jess1: Shane, how does it feel to be a big star? Shane West: I wouldn't consider myself a big star yet. If there's another one of these in a few years, and I'm lucky to become one, I'll be happy to answer that question then. Sarahrachel: How would you describe your character in "Whatever It Takes?" Shane West: Eli is a popular guy in school, but at the same time, he's got his own problems, such as a lot studying problems. On "Whatever It Takes," Ryan is the unpopular guy in school. He's got a lot of heart and he's a confused teenager. He is just overwhelmed by the things he cannot have and will do anything to obtain these things. What happens is he ends up hurting his friends in the process, but in the end, he realizes that and makes it better. Kittygrrlz200: I just saw the movie, it's so funny! In the film, your character deals with the popularity issue--were you popular in high school? Shane West: I was kinda like Ryan in high school. From the 6th to the 10th grade, I was kinda unpopular. I only had 2 friends, and I used to pine for the unpopular girls, like Ryan did. Then, around 10th grade, an older girl got a crush on me. Then, as inane as High School is, I got thrust into the popular group. So I did a little bit of both. Rayanne: I read that your first on-screen kiss was with Danielle Fishel of "Boy Meets World." What was that experience like? Shane West: It was pretty embarrassing. She was 15, maybe, at the time, and I was 17. And it was just very awkward. I felt like she was very young, and didn't have time to really get to know each other. It happened, and it was over. Karla: What do you think of Marla Sokoloff? Was it fun working with her? Shane West: Yeah. Marla's great! I've been friends with her for four or five years. We were already friends before we did the movie, so I consequently had a great time. American Beauty: Who's a better kisser--Marla Sokoloff or Jodi Lyn O'Keefe? Shane West: That is really unfair. I didn't really get to kiss Jodi. It was an over-dramatic kiss. The point was to make the kiss gross! I would have to say Marla was the better kisser, because of the circumstances.
