CosmoGIRL! presents Fashion Editor Jacqueline Azria-Palombo August 7, 2000 Get the scoop on all the latest fashions and trends with CosmoGIRL!'s Fashion Editor Jacqueline Azria-Palombo. Find out what's hot - and what's not - for the 2000 - 2001 school year! CosmoGIRL: Welcome to our fall fashion chat with CosmoGIRL! Fashion director Jacqueline Azria-Palombo She's here to answer all your fall fashion Q's! JRTZ GIRL: What shoes will be in fashion this Fall? Jacqueline: Well, this fall we're going to see a lot of boots, high boots and low boots. We're also going to see clogs, because 70s and kind of vintage is still very much in, so we'll see a lot of clogs, as well as knit clogs, a very cute trend. And sneakers are still big, but in a more old-fashioned way, kind of vintage looking sneakers, and not too high tech, but low tech. Embellished sneakers, with sequins, or little things on them that make them a little more girly. Mary Janes are still very big, but I would say the big thing would be boots. Help Me: I need a painless way to pluck my eye brows. Sometime I can't even finish plucking because it hurts so much. Can someone help? Jacqueline: Well, I'm not a beauty editor, but I've always heard that if you put an ice cube on your brows for a while, it kind of numbs you, and you can pluck away. I think it's a good trick. Elmo1984: I am a heavier person and I hate to shop for jeans. What kind of jeans should I be looking for? Jacqueline: Well, the straight kind of cut is very much in fashion, like the 501 from Levi's, and I think that's a cool cut for girls who are not super skinny. It is nice and makes your legs look kind of long. So that's a good one, and that's what I would do. Get jeans that are either straight legged or a little bit of a boot cut--nothing that's tapered at the bottom--so that they make your legs look even longer. I would not choose jeans that are too short--I would make them be long on the shoe, and that's cool looking, even if you are not a size 4. And dark denim is always nice, and is easier to wear than something that is too bleached. Dark makes you look a little bit thinner. BrightAngel: Seems that fashions just keep cycling through, so what's hot today will be in again 30 years from now. Why is that do you think? Jacqueline: Well, it's not that much that things keep coming back; I think that things keep being reinterpreted. There was a trend, and then a new generation comes in and gives its own twist, so it's the same but not the same. Yeah, the 70s are back, but it's not exactly the 70s; it's the 70s as seen by a new generation. So, let's say corduroys are back because they're very 70s. But they're not going to be a wide bell bottom, and maybe we will put some studs on them, so it's not exactly a cycle that comes back identically. It's something that you take from the past that you like for some reason and you reinterpret it. That's more what's happening. Right now we see a lot of kids recycling T-shirts from the 70s and 80s with rock bands like Bon Jovi and Duran Duran. They cut the sleeves, they put rhinestones on them, they make them their own. So it's old but it's new; it's the same but not the same. Randi: What kind of pants are teens wearing? Baggy? Tight? Leather? Flare? Help!
