HBO presents Jason Cerbone May 13, 2001 Meadow: How long did it take to become comfortable with the rest of the cast, being 'the new guy'? Jason Cerbone: I was nervous at first, but they welcomed me right away. So pretty much right at the beginning of the season, I was able to step right into everything that was going on. I was definitely scared at the beginning, because these people had been working together for two years straight, but when I got to know everybody, I was really happy to be there. Gunpoint Affection: Are you afraid of glorifying violence to the public? Jason Cerbone: I think "The Sopranos" is just a TV show. There's violence, cursing, and nudity, but I think it's just all part of entertainment. I think that violence has been around way before "The Sopranos," and it will be around way after "The Sopranos." It's just one aspect of our show, and it makes it exciting. D Marie: Are you allowed any input as to your character's actions? Jason Cerbone: Not really. The scripts come, and we really stay to the scripts the way they're written. As an actor, you do make certain choices on your character's behalf, so you do have some leeway when it comes to that, but they pretty much decide what's going to happen, and how it's going to happen. The choices I get to make are the mental choices that the character's thinking about or how he feels, but the situations are up to them. Frisky Dog: I can't help but notice the similarities between your character's interest in fashion and your history with the Ford modeling company. Is this just a coincidence, or do you yourself have an interest in pursuing modeling more so than you already have? Jason Cerbone: No. I think modeling was something that I did when I was a kid, and it's what broke me into the business. I enjoyed it while it lasted, but my main focus, right now, is on acting. I love everything about being an actor, and all the freedom of expression that comes with it that you don't really get with modeling. It challenges me mentally, and it really keeps me interested from day to day. Duo Pen Ultimate: Jason, what are your top five favorite CD's, and what's in your CD player right now? Jason Cerbone: I have 80s music in my CD player right now. Sometimes, I just get on a kick for different stuff. Right now, I'm in the 80s kind of mood. I like Creed, Destiny's Child, and the Pure 80s CD that I have. I like The Sopranos soundtrack, and anything else that gets my attention on the radio. Daniel: Hey, Jason. We were wondering how long ago this season/episode was filmed. Jason Cerbone: We started filming in August, and we filmed all the way through February. I think that tonight's episode was filmed at the end of January, beginning of February, sometime. Season: Besides acting, are there any other things you enjoy doing? Jason Cerbone: Yes. I enjoy exercising. It allows me to blow off steam, and I try to stay in shape. I like spending time with my family and friends. I'm a major movie buff, and I love going to the movies. Duo Pen Ultimate: If you could play any character, (past, present, or future), who would it be, and why? Jason Cerbone: That's hard to say. I think that once I've seen a character already played by someone else, I kind of lose the creative freedom that I might have just from reading the script. Once I see someone else do it, I feel that's the way it should be. But as far as characters that I've really enjoyed watching, I loved Edward Norton as Derek Vineyard in "American History X." I thought that he really showed tremendous range playing a character like that, and that's something I hope to do in my future.
