I'm your Host KelereCCC, please join me in welcoming Windows NT 4.0 authority Alan Carter. Welcome Alan! Alan, please start us off by describing the audience for this book?

Alan: Anyone who wants to pass the Windows NT exams or become an administrator is a good candidate for the book How important is MCSE to gaining employment or moving up the career ladder? It is the starting point for many careers in the Information Technology world similar to a college degree for other careers. There are various companies that sell training test simulations, some people say that if you can answer those questions perfectly you will be guaranteed of passing the tests. Is that true, if so - can you recommend any? The best tests currently are transcenders. I would not say that you know the product well with just the practice tests, but they really help on the exams!

Ziggy1: Just wanted to say hi to Alan and thank for a nice MCSE book he wrote.

Alan: Thanks Ziggy1, any comments on the book?

Ziggy1: It’s great!

Bfree: Alan, does the book cover enterprise as well as the server exam?

Alan: Yes, it covers Workstation, Server and Enterprise.

Ziggy1: The MCSE Study Guide seems like one of the most intense ways learn a Microsoft product, is it also best way for someone that doesn't plan to take the tests?

Alan: Yes, the labs and step-by step instructions are great for on-the-job learning.

Ziggy1: How about that directory replication issue -- the bug was covered in the book!

Alan: That was supposed to be fixed by a service pack.

Ziggy1: Lots of labs.

Alan: How did you like the labs -- were they helpful?

Ziggy1: Yes, I was impressed because you mentioned that bug. With all of the future upgrades on the horizon in NT 5.0 and SQL Server, is now a good time to attempt certification?

Alan: Yes, NT 5.0 won't be out till at least June of 98, maybe much later. Learn NT now, and then upgrade your skills to NT 5.0 later

Ziggy1: So, Alan, what should I concentrate on for enterprise?
