CCCoach: Welcome to IDGBooks Tonight's guests are David Elderbrock and David Karlins authors of IDGbooks' "Microsoft FrontPage 2000 Bible" Here to answer your questions on Frontpage 2000, Microsoft's Web page editor. To discuss the tips and tricks to creating an interactive Web site with ease. Good evening David and David, welcome to Talk City. Could either of you start this evening by telling us about your book and how you have addressed the user friendliness of FrontPage web page builder.

IDG Authors: The pages are pretty easy to build, but the server connections can be challenging.

Elderbrock: Sure, I'll give it a shot. The book is aimed at the whole range of users, from casual home users to more sophisticated business users.even, developers. For beginners the book contains lots of examples and tutorial-style explanations. For power users, we try to include tips and detailed information.

MMadness2: Where can I get this book? How much will this book cost?

Alia F: You may purchase this title at www.idgbooks.com for $39.99. Visit idgbooks.com to read a sample chapter from this book as well!

CCCoach: It is a great chapter too Alia F, I was reading it today.

MMadness2: Can WebTV users do this?

Elderbrock: As for the question about WebTV - I don't honestly know the details of what HTML WebTV supports, but they have info for developers on their site (I have been looking for an answer here, but haven't found it yet.)

Shawksie: Is FP a MAC application as well? And is it easy to use for total HTML klutzes like me?

IDG Authors: Yes to both.

Elderbrock: A caution to Mac users, I don't believe Microsoft has upgraded the Mac version of FP recently.

Sigmagirl: My husband (an HTML genius) taught me to make basic webpages with another program. It's not very intuitive, and he is often not there to answer questions for me. Is this program simple to use, and how is it different from other HTML editors? Is it written in techie terms, or in English?

Elderbrock: Frontpage is very easy to learn - especially if you have used other Microsoft products, like Word.

IDG Authors: You don't need to learn HTML to create Web sites with FrontPage, but.as I mentioned earlier, you do need to understand how Web servers work. Designing the pages is the easy part, making all the things like input forms and animation is harder.

Elderbrock: I would say that the more you understand the technology behind what you are doing, the better able you will be to solve problems - but you can certainly use FrontPage effectively without any knowledge of HTML or how web servers work.
