CCCoach: Can you explain some on how a web server works, IDG Authors, to help us understand more? Does your book cover this topic?

IDG Authors: The Web server is the computer and software that hosts your Web site so that others can see it and interact with it! FrontPage does simplify the process of connecting a Web site with a server. However, it works best if your ISP/server provider supports FrontPage. I think we explain this pretty fully in the book - on many levels

Romalove: Can you explain how I may put a background in and have it expand my whole screen. When I insert a background it looks fine on a 15 inch monitor but on my 17 it starts to repeat and looks bad?

Elderbrock: Yes, chapter 3 is devoted to the topic of publishing your web sites - whether to an FP-supported site or just a plain vanilla ISP

IDG Authors: Background images are tiled to fill the screen. If you create a background image that is tiled only vertically, it must be wide enough to fill the screen. In short - just make your background image wider.

No1dad: How do we use FrontPage to insert hyperlinks that work? When I put one in, I often end up with extra characters like 2% and others why is this? Then when I go to use the link it does not work, or it keeps adding the http repeated.

IDG Authors: OK - I'll take a stab at the 2% question. The % symbol represents spaces - these are still valid links.

Elderbrock: I can't say off-hand why these stray characters are ending up in your HTML, but they are "encoded" characters designed to pass through the server. Are you cutting and pasting the link from somewhere else? Or perhaps you are inserting SPACES into your links that are being translated with %?

No1dad: Yes I am that. I copy and paste so that could be why.

Elderbrock: Ah, yes FP will translate spaces into encoded format in the link - they should still work correctly, however.

IDG Authors: Right. Let me take advantage of this lull to promote my FrontPage Forum at www.ppinet.com

Preachers2: I wish I understood all this, new at all this, need education. (User of WebTV only.)

IDG Authors: preachers2 - Are you trying to create a Web site?

Preachers2: Our church already has a web site created and I can't even edit it right. Can't get the pastor's message to come up to read it though I pushed reload
