OrCCCa: Welcome back to Talk City Denise! Would you start today with telling us about your TV show on Lifetime Television. When & how did you get started? DeniseAustin: Well, I got started in the fitness business 20 years ago after I graduated from college, getting my degree in exercise physiology. Jack Lalanne gave me my first start on his exercise show, and then I started up fitness programs for companies all over the country. Then I did an exercise segment on the Today show from '84-88, and now I have my own show on Lifetime Television doing yoga, Pilates, kickboxing, and other new forms of exercise. Genie: What will some of the topics be on your new season of workout programs? DeniseAustin: I'm filming in two weeks from Hawaii! It will be mainly new exercises that strengthen, as well as keeping your body flexible. There will be nice ways to condition the body without punishing it! Laurie: How do you stay so positive? Have you ever had that "I just can't face the day" feeling? DeniseAustin: I don't feel that way very often. I think exercise does keep your energy level up. But my kind of philosophy and healthy attitude is that we have a choice in life to be happy or be a grouch, and I choose to be happy! When things get you down, you can rely on bouncing back quicker and I really think positively. I try not to be negative.
