NBCi presents Natalie Cole November 09, 2000 Natalie Cole chats about her 27th album release, "Natalie Cole: Greatest Hits Volume 1," and her autobiography, "Angel on My Shoulder," due out in early November. NBCLive: Welcome to NBC Live! Tonight we are chatting with the multi-talented superstar Natalie Cole. Manolis Varnas: Natalie you are one of the best artists. You write, and performed some of the most beautiful love songs. My question is, do you see that your new biography will turn in to a movie, and if they did it a movie, what actress would you love to see play Natalie Cole? Natalie: It IS going to be a movie! It'll air December 10, and the difficulty of casting movies like this, of living people, is the tendency to having them look similar to that person. We have found that it works better to have a great actor. And that's what we found. Theresa Randel is going to play me, from 18-35. There will be younger actors because the movie starts from when I was a little girl. And I play myself toward the end of the movie, up to the present. Romeo 14: If you hadn't become a singer, what career would you have chosen? Natalie: I always wanted to be a doctor, ever since I was very young. I did go to college, to study medicine, but I wasn't great at pre-med. So I changed my major to child psychology. It was my intention to pursue that, get a Masters and a Ph.D., and open a clinic. But all of that changed once I began singing. Beaswax: Natalie Cole, are you as close to your mother now as an adult that you were as a child?
