Beau is a multiple Emmy Award winner for "The Second Civil War," "Without Warning - The James Brady Story" and "The Positively True Adventures of the Alleged Texas Cheerleader Murdering Mom." Beau was also nominated for another Emmy in 2000 for his dynamic portrayal of legendary showman, "P.T. Barnum." Welcome, Beau Bridges! Beau Bridges: Hi. This is Beau Bridges. I'm so happy to be chatting with you all this evening, and I have a miniseries that will be beginning tonight on the Odyssey Channel called "Voyage Of The Unicorn." It's an adventure fantasy for the whole family, adults and children, to watch together, and it's on the Odyssey Channel at 8 PM. Those of you who do not have the Odyssey Channel can call your channel operator, and they will supply it for you. Marty 3: Hello Beau. Describe what "Voyage Of The Unicorn" is about, and what role do you play? Beau Bridges: I play a college professor, Prof. Aisling, and when we first meet Prof. Aisling he is very despondent because he has lost his wife. She died about a year before we meet him, and he's heading home from class on his bicycle, and there is a trail of gold dust that follows him, that only the audience can see, and some shadowy, dark figures in the trees observing him as well. He reaches his home, and his two daughters are there, one age 12, one age 16. They are also having a tough time in life because they're mourning the death and passing of their mother, and the family gets together there and they look out the window. They also see the shadowy figures, and they're very frightened. Suddenly the front door is broken down and into the house come huge trolls, 7 feet tall, with axes and spears, and they attack the professor and his family. The professor, who used to be on the fencing team in college, grabs his old fencing foil off the wall and does the best he can against the trolls, while his daughters run out the back door. In the backyard awaits an elf and a dwarf who steal the daughters away. A chase ensues. The professor, trying to reach his daughters, and the trolls chasing the professor. This all leads to a waterfront where the professor finds a beautiful galleon, a ship called "The Unicorn," with the head of the unicorn carved in its bow. The dwarf says to the professor, "Your ship awaits you, sir!" The professor says, "My ship?" With that a spear hits very close to the professor's head, and the professor has no choice but to get on the ship. And then the dwarf hits the button on this magical machine called a Wunterlabe, and everyone disappears into another plane of existence, and they find themselves afloat on the sea of imagination where they begin their fantastical voyage. We find out later that the voyage was orchestrated by none other than the wife and mother who has passed on. She has engineered the voyage in order to instill faith in life once again to her family to help them deal with her passing. There is an often repeated phrase in the story, "By believing, one sees," and that is one of the major themes of the film.
