Thea plays 'Lindsay', "Queer as Folk's" new mother, who struggles to diffuse the contempt between 'Melanie', her partner, and 'Brian', her best friend, and biological father of her child. Prior to QAF, Thea has had an active career in film, television, and on the stage. Welcome, Thea! Let's get started! Thea Gill: Hello, everyone! Thanks for watching the show. Benz: Hi, Thea. I admire your work. Lindsay is one of many characters I like in QAF. What do you think about QAF and Gay community? How do you want to see the end of Brian? Thea Gill: I believe it's a very important and meaningful show. It's a big step in the right direction, and a step that is necessary to have been made. I think Brian will always be a part of Lindsay's life. We've been friends right since we've been children, and that's a bond that will never be erased. Hopefully, the relationship between Brian and Melanie will get better, and we can repair some of the damage that's been done. I just want to thank you for your first comment about admiring my work. I'm grateful you like my character, and the show. Melisa: Thea, you are one of the most talented actresses around today. Where do you get your inspiration? Thea Gill: Melisa, thank you, thank you, and thank you! That's so sweet and generous of you to say. I've always wanted to be an actress, since I was very young. Some of the actresses I most admired had come from the theatre, including Canadian actresses such as Nancy Beatty and Kyra Harper. In terms of film, I must admit that Vanessa Redgrave has been an inspiration with her enduring career and the intensity of her work, which has always moved and inspired me. Her performance in "If These Walls Could Talk 2" was phenomenal. I haven't seen anything like that in a long time. Froudian: What was it like to make a televised love scene with another woman? Thea Gill: It was fabulous! There was absolutely no discomfort whatsoever. Michelle Clunie, who plays my partner, is a totally comforting actress. We got together many times before we even started shooting, to hang out, and practice kissing! She's one of those actresses that you can do anything with, and she is completely liberating to be around. The love scenes we did were just fun, and not a problem at all. They were very relaxing, and very loving. We trusted each other immensely, and we do trust each other every day. Melisa: You seem like such a passionate actress. I love watching you guys act. Do you feel that you have inspired other young women to become actresses? Thea Gill: Thanks again, Melisa! I'm so glad you find me a passionate actress. I hope I've inspired other young people to act. I don't know that yet! I haven't heard from anyone yet, but if there's anyone out there that ever wants to talk to me about acting, they can definitely contact the production offices. I'd be more than happy to talk to anyone about the business and the art form.
