SocialNet: Welcome to this informative hour of chat with world renowned hair and makeup artist Clifford Hashimoto. Clifford has done his magic work on many celebrities such as Cindy Crawford, Claudia Schiffer, Jennifer Lopez and Ricky Martin. Now is our chance to ask him in-depth questions about hair and makeup. Clifford Hashimoto: Welcome! Please ask away, I'm here to help you! Jill: How did you get started in this career? Clifford Hashimoto: I started actually as a hairdresser in salons. I worked in Arizona, and San Francisco. I used to practice makeup on my hair clients, and from that point I had pictures done of my work and took them to an agency and was signed. And I have an agent who gets me all my work with magazines, etc. Mike: What are some quick makeup tips for a very busy mom just trying to look "decent?" Clifford Hashimoto: This is very easy! I try to tell clients this all the time. Makeup doesn't have to be a job for anyone, just to cover those areas that are red and blotchy, the nose, the forehead, the chin and a little on your cheeks. Blend it in and get it even. Curl your lashes, put some mascara on them, and put a little blush on the apple of your cheeks, this should only take you 10 minutes. If you want a really good product it's called Nine One One and it's by BeneFit. It works for the Lips, cheeks and the eyes. It's a great product for someone on the go. Alex: What brand of hair coloring is the best and easiest to use? Clifford Hashimoto: Oh wow. That's a good question. I've actually used some of the products like you find in the drug store, on my clients. The best one I've used is Hydrience. I found that to be the best color of a store bought color. Never ever go higher than two shades above your own color. Drugstore products are not designed to lift the color more than one to two shades. Use them just to add highlights, red, gold.you want to keep the color as close to your own as possible. Other than that you definitely want to go to a salon to have the work done. Cherryz: What types of eye shadows do you recommend for the fall season? Clifford Hashimoto: There are a lot of great new types out on the market right now. I'd say in colors I would keep them in fall colors or deeper pinks. Muted browns, but they need to be more red browns. The products out there are really great; they have cream eye shadows, and are really easy to use. Almost every makeup department has wonderful colors now and products.
