T-TALK: Welcome to this week's t-Talk! Lucy: What is the right age to start dating? I am 14 and mom says I have to wait until I am 15. All my friends are dating. T-TALK: Well I think it's best up to your parents discretion as to what age is right for you. I think probably the best age is what your parents are telling you. There is no set age. But 15 sounds about right. So you don't have that long to go! Wicked: Are there set rules for dating? What are some of the do's and don'ts about first dates? T-TALK: Well, I think that is different for every individual. I would say don't do anything that you have to think about not doing, if that makes sense. First dates, take it for what it is. Getting to know someone. Asking a lot of questions. Mickey: I like this really cool chick at my school and want to ask her out on a date. Thing is, I don't know where I should take her and stuff! This will be my first date and I don't want to look dumb. Any suggestions? T-TALK: McDonald's? I'm kidding! I'm kidding! Well, once you get the nerve up to ask her, I think a movie is always a good thing because you don't have to do so much talking and you can just get used to being around that person for a couple of hours and then after the movie maybe just have something to drink or some ice cream and discuss the movie and get to know each other. And then maybe you can decide at that time, if there is going to be another one, what she would like to do. Shelby: What if your date wants you to do something against your will? T-TALK: Obviously if it is against your will, you just don't do it. And if the reaction angers them then that means they are really not respecting your wishes so you shouldn't put yourself in a predicament where someone is trying to get you to do something against your will. Ruby Tuesday: If I date and it is against my parent's rules, should I not tell them? T-TALK: Well it all depends on how you deal with guilt. I think if you are dishonest with your parents and the truth comes out eventually they are going to put some restrictions on you or the restrictions are going to be a lot tougher because they know that you have been dishonest with them. So if you have been keeping it a secret you might want to "come clean.” Honesty is the best policy.
