Warner Bros. presents Latina Singer Angela Via September 21, 2000 Singer Angela Via answers questions about her music, touring, her latest CD, "Picture Perfect," and her upcoming Spanish album. Entertaindom Host1: Welcome, chatters! Today's chat is with new singing sensation Angela Via. She just released her latest CD called "Picture Perfect." We welcome Angela Via. Welcome, and thank you for being here with us. Angela Via: Hey, guys! What's up? Entertaindom Host1: Let's just get right to the questions. Fillyflash: How did you get your start in the music business? Angela Via: It was actually all by coincidence. Entertaindom Host: Really? Angela Via: The thing that really led me to things in the music business was a contest with our local Portland radio station called Z100. This contest was promoting the movie "The Wedding Singer," and it was held in a mall. My mom was the one who convinced me to do it. I was really shy at the time. So I went ahead and did the contest, and I ended up winning first place. They told me that I was then going to be sent to Planet Hollywood in Hollywood to sing there. Entertaindom Host1: WOW Angela Via: Of course, I was totally overwhelmed. The only performing I had ever done before was in church. NaughtyBoy: Which part about being a recording artist do you like best? Angela Via: Oh, my gosh. That's a tough one, because I really enjoy the writing process and working with great producers, but I also really enjoy meeting the fans and performing. VirtualMirage: What is the most exciting part of being onstage for you, and do you get nervous? Angela Via: Oh yeah, I get nervous. It's always the most nerve-wracking about 1/2 hour before I go up and I have to do a lockdown where I'm completely alone. I say a prayer, and I get myself psyched up and start singing and warming up right there. I also chew Altoids, which opens my sinuses. But once I get up there and I start singing, I feel free, and I just kind of let the crowd keep me going. It's just something I almost can't explain. I get really pumped up, and I love it. Opugsley: Hi, Angela! I love your new song - are you going to be touring anytime soon? Angela Via: Hey! Thanks for liking my song. I'm not sure about what kind of tour I'll be on next. For right now, I'm doing random radio shows. I've been doing some shows through Target and Seventeen magazine. I'm in Denver this weekend. SnowyDawg: Which performers do you admire the most? Angela Via: As far as the whole package of a concert goes, I think the three people I admire the most are Janet Jackson, Madonna, and Celine Dion. SnowyDawg: What has been the most exciting thing in your career so far? Angela Via: The most exciting thing has been going on tour. That was a blast. I got to hang out with the other artists like LFO, Bwitched, and Take Five. Uncleroger: What's it like to be touring with LFO, BWitched & Blaque? Do you all hang out? Angela Via: Actually, there were many times that we did hang out. Usually the days when we had no shows. At some stops there were theme parks, and we would go on rides together. Everybody was so positive on this tour and really supportive of each other.
