NetCafeLive: Welcome to NetCafeLive! Tonight we are chatting with John Gray, author of the popular 'Mars & Venus" books. His latest is "Practical Miracles for Mars & Venus." NetCafeLive is presented by Borders, Inc. and Talk City, Inc. Dr. John Gray, Thank you for joining us tonight!

John Gray: Hi. It's a pleasure to talk with you today about my new book, "Practical Miracles for Mars & Venus." I hope these insights will assist you in managing stress more effectively in your life. I found through applying the 9 principles and techniques mentioned in this book that much of the time I am able to actually transform the energy of stressful situations and feel much better and much more creative. I welcome your questions.

Allisha: How did you get the idea for doing these books?

John Gray: Nine years ago, I had an eye infection that didn't heal. Doctors couldn't help and I went legally blind in my left eye. This motivated me to seek out alternative types of healing and self-healing. For over 30 years, I've taught techniques for emotional self-healing but I hadn't focused on physical healing. By integrating new ideas common to western psychology regarding how we manage our emotional stress, and combining this with ancient South American, Indian and Chinese methods of energy healing, I was able to activate or strengthen my body's ability to self-heal and re-gained my vision. Since then, I've being duly impressed. I have witness people heal themselves, not limited to psychological stress but enabling their bodies to heal of chronic pain, allergies, weight problems, addictions, unhealthy cravings, and serious diseases like MS or Stage IV cancer as well, with these tools. It amazes me each time. The body's ability to heal itself is truly miraculous, if we can learn how to get out of the way and let it do what it is designed to do. Our bodies are designed to self-heal but need our cooperation.

Miss Q: Did you travel to do the research? And to where?

John Gray: Over the last 9 years, I have traveled literally around the world 20 times. Most frequently, I went to India; but also Europe, Egypt, Australia, Bali, Africa, Mexico, Peru, and although I didn't go to China, here in America, I have studied with various Chinese Chi gong masters and healers, and the Philippines. It's been quite an adventure. I have witnessed many unexplainable and miraculous healings. My intention was always to explore what makes self-healing occur. While these different ancient cultures had different styles, there are some basic underlying factors that I found to be extremely useful for modern day westerners.

SallySue0: Do you find that our medical profession is not taking natural methods into consideration like they should?

John Gray: I think the establishment is always slow to change, but eventually it does. I think, in this last couple of years, we are witnessing a relatively accelerated change in the established western medical profession with the enormous amount of money being paid by people for nutritional supplements and alternative healing. Major hospitals everywhere are opening their minds to different forms of healing to complement the strengths of modern medicine.

Symmetry: You have seen the body's power to heal itself; do you believe that each person must bring that about within their own body, or do you think there might be healers that can cause someone else's body to heal spontaneously?

John Gray: Yes, I've witnessed healers many times stimulate a spontaneous healing in the patient. Historically, this is extremely common. It, however, didn't always work for everyone. To receive a healing, one must be receptive to it. There are many factors which increase receptivity. Rather than leave it to luck, in my book, I explore the 9 attitudes that make one receptive to receiving a healing or to experience a spontaneous healing. By actively becoming responsible to be receptive one can easily take the next step and heal themselves. There are basically two kinds of energy healing. One is simply learning to feel and direct the energy in your body. The second is much more powerful. It is spiritual healing. If one is open to the idea of a higher power, then spiritual healing works for them and it is dramatically more effective. However, those who have no spiritual beliefs to call on or understanding can also use powerful energy self-healing tools.
