Borders.com presents Kathleen DesMaisons March 19, 1999 KathleenDesMaisons: MysticWarrior, your brain would not have adjusted to the level of seratonin, and the Prozac would make you sleepy and disoriented. JillLam: My husband misses me joining him for wine. He thinks if he gets me some "dry" wine it would have less sugar. I think it's a pipe dream - what do I tell him? KathleenDesMaisons: JillLam, if you are sugar sensitive, any kind of wine will set you off. You're right, it's a pipe dream. Pregnantone: What is the connection between sugar sensitivity and thyroid? The symptoms are so related. KathleenDesMaisons: I don't know, but I'm working on it - we'll answer that question in a chat in a few months! PhatKat10: Where can I buy your book? KathleenDesMaisons: PhatKat10 - you can get the book at www.borders.com And it will be at all bookstores, as it is a national bestseller Lulu: If your body has to work harder to process complex carbohydrates, will it also burn more fat & calories at the same time? KathleenDesMaisons: No, usually it will burn less if you are sugar sensitive. LilyCCC: For many people who have battled depression, antidepressant medications have been lifesavers. How can you know if someone might benefit from stopping his or her meds to try your diet? KathleenDesMaisons: People should NOT go off their meds to do this food plan - they should do it while taking their medication, and work with their doctor to go about reducing medications. Aethus: I'm taking Seroxat.how does that differ from Prozac? KathleenDesMaisons: Aethus, the science chapter of the book addresses these questions. We have found that many, many people feel better while doing this food plan, especially those with manic depressive disorder. Phillipp1: I have been looking forward to reading your book. I was on Prozac and I did not like it, but what I liked even less was the attitude of the people who prescribed it for me. How can I add discipline to my diet? Still I reject the notion of genetic sensitivity. KathleenDesMaisons: This book offers a solution that doesn't require discipline, but only requires eating breakfast. It may not be genetic, but if you ARE sugar sensitive, what you eat has a huge affect on how you feel. Eat 3 meals, with protein at each meal, and a potato before you go to bed. Breakfast IS important!
