Please write it on the last line on Form 4868. This is your proof of an extension. Do not mail in Form 4868. Puddle Jump: Where can I get a TeleFile form? Pam-IRS: The TeleFile tax package cannot be ordered from the Forms Distribution Center. TeleFile tax packages are mailed automatically to taxpayers that filed a return in the prior year that met the requirements for using Form 1040EZ. If you have met the requirements for TeleFile, and you did not receive the TeleFile tax package, or your lost the one you had, you may request one by calling our call site at 1-800-829-1040. Almost Grad: Can I TeleFile or e-file if I am deducting student loan interest? Pam-IRS: You cannot use TeleFile if you are claiming the student loan interest deduction. However, you can e-file by personal computer or by filing through an Authorized IRS e-file Provider. To learn more, refer to our Electronic Services information. Forms King: I received a Form 1099-MISC, as well as some W-2s. Can I still use TeleFile? Pam-IRS: If you received other income, such as non-employee compensation that must be reported on Form 1040 or supporting schedules, you cannot use TeleFile. You can use TeleFile if you are still using the address printed on your TeleFile Tax Record for mail purposes; filing single, or married filing jointly, and you have no dependents; had income only from wages, salaries, tips, taxable scholarship or fellowship grants; unemployment compensation interest (less than $400) and no withholding deduction; Alaska Permanent Fund Dividends; qualified state tuition program earnings had total taxable income of less than $50,000. You cannot use TeleFile if you need to change your filing status, name or address, need to claim any dependents, need to claim a deduction(s) for being over 65 or blind, did not receive the tax package, are filing the return of a deceased taxpayer, received any advance earned income credit payments, and repaid any unemployment compensation during the year for which a tax return is being filed. Psycho Chica: I tried to TeleFile, and it said my birthday was wrong. Pam-IRS: You will need to go to the Social Security Administration and ask them to correct their records with us. For this tax year, you are going to need to use one of the alternative electronic filing methods, either online or by preparer to e-file.
