joann.com presents Priscilla Hauser September 28, 2000 Priscilla Hauser, world-renowned decorative painting artist, answers questions about her newest step-by-step painting/decoupage project kit, Angels for Animals and her efforts to end animal abuse. Joann: We are pleased to present Priscilla Hauser, world-renowned decorative painting artist. Motivated by her tremendous passion for protecting animals and her tireless drive to end animal abuse, Priscilla helped us create an exclusive step-by-step painting/decoupage project kit named Angels for Animals. A portion of the profits from this beautiful kit will be donated to non-profit animal-care organizations. Chat now with Priscilla about this project and the wonderful ideas she showcased on the joann.com Creative World Show on Value Vision TV. Priscilla: I'm absolutely delighted to talk about the world of home décor, which of course includes decorative painting and all that so many of us have to offer you at joann.com. I welcome your questions! So let's do it! Busy Brat: What is the best way to prepare fabric for painting? Priscilla: It depends upon the type of fabric, so let's just say a cotton or cotton/polyester blend. If possible, you want to wash the fabric first, but don't put any fabric softener in it when you dry it. Iron it, then cut a piece of cardboard the approximate size of the area you will be decorating on the fabric. Secure the fabric with tape over the cardboard, slip the cardboard into a plastic bag and secure the bag with tape over the fabric. Cut out a window of plastic and apply tape around the edges. With the fabric encased in the plastic bag, you will be less likely to get painted fingers on the unpainted portion of the fabric. Neatly trace and transfer your design and begin your painting. For information on other types of fabric, email priscilla.hauser@IdeaForest.com Belle: Where can your kit Angels for Animals be purchased? Priscilla: At joann.com. I'm so proud of this kit. Animals are often abused and mistreated. Angels for Animals is a fundraising organization that financially supports wonderful non-profit organizations that take care of abused animals. You'll love this kit. The kits are exclusively on joann.com. Brig: Can you tell us a bit about your latest project, Angels for Animals, and what inspired you? Priscilla: I have recently adopted a second dog--her name is Tiny, and you can see her at joann.com. First punch joann.com, than go to IdeaForest, and then look for Priscilla. Tiny lived in a puppy mill the first three years of her life. She was then taken from the mill and badly abused, blind in one eye. But the joy of it all is she is doing beautifully today! She has so much love to give. I wish everybody could experience the pleasure that comes from seeing an abused animal live a normal life again. I hope all of you realize how important it is to care for and love all animals. Like people, they too need our support.
