tNBC presents Brian Skala April 03, 2001 Caileigh: What sign are you? Do you believe in astrology? BrianS: I am an Aries and yes, actually I do believe in Astrology. I'm very fascinated with the stars and space and I find it very interesting. Tara: In one sentence explain to me how you felt the first day on the set? BrianS: I was having the time of my life. Angel Eyes: Brian, do you come from a family of actors and what inspiration and support do they give you? BrianS: Nobody in my family are actors. Every single one of them supports me very, very much and have stood by me the whole time I've been doing this. I couldn't have done it without them. Alisun: What roles do you prefer to play, those in television or in films? BrianS: Actually I've only really worked in television. I've only done one film. I'm really excited to get out there and start doing films so I can explore new characters. Steves Gal: Can you tell us a little bit about your role in the movie "The Basket?" BrianS: My characters name was Nathan, and basically I was a big bully. Basically the story was, two German immigrants came in 1918 -- it was a period piece. It was right after WWI, and I'm not liking them very much. My brother just got back from the war and lost his leg, so I don't even give them a chance. I kind of blame them for what happened to my brother. I'm beating them up and picking on them. But in the end we become good friends and I see beyond that they're just German. Concerned P: Have you done much theater work? How does acting live compare to films and television shows? BrianS: Yes, actually I did a lot of theater when I first started acting in Colorado. A couple of them were "Alice in Wonderland" and "Space Odyssey." It's a lot different because you get one chance on the stage. A couple other things to mention are that you have to project more and you have to be a lot "bigger" in theater than you have to be in film. Film catches every little detail. Lately I have not done any theater. Tennis Kid: What kind of music do you like to listen to? BrianS: I like Rap, rock, jazz, reggae, blues. Everything except for Country. No offense. Kayla FL: If you could be on any other TV show, which one would it be? BrianS: I saw a really cool show the other night called "Semper Fi." It's about a Marine group. I think it would be great to do a lot of action every day. I find the military side of things very interesting. Kimmy LA: Who is your favorite actor and has their acting inspired your own? BrianS: I would have to say a couple of them; Don Cheadle, Benicio Del Toro is great, and Tom Hanks. Those are probably my favorite actors. I find that when those guys choose a role they commit to it so well, they're so incredibly believable. They put me in awe every time I see them. Lost 'N Mass: Can you tell us what happened when you and your family competed in "Family Double-Dare" when you were visiting Universal and was it fun? BrianS: We were on vacation in Florida and we were taking the tour of Universal Studios, and we were at the Nickelodeon part of the tour. In the middle of the tour they were saying how they were hosting auditions for "Family Double Dare." We said, "let's go check it out!" So we went downstairs and there was this long line of families, and all of them were holding this little slip, and my mom goes up to one of the families and asks where to get one of those. The pointed her in the direction of a little trailer, and my mom went over there. When she went there, they told her, "hold on there, we have all the families we need," and my mom was "oh come on, what's one more family?" So they give us one of those little slips. So basically we had to audition for the show. I don't remember everything we had to do -- make up a song or chant and do a couple other ridiculous things. They auditioned about 10 families, and we ended up getting it. We had to stay in Florida a couple of days longer.
